In his role, Berthold will be leading the sales activities, open up new business opportunities and be responsible for OQmented’s strategic partnerships. Berthold has 20 years of experience in development, project and product management. While at Schott, he acted as Key Account Manager in augmented and mixed reality, expanding their market access and developing the go to market strategy. There he was serving the customer by providing the industry with glass specialities and HI wafer for the waveguide fabrication.

OQmented LBS-Display Technology as Key for Solving Design Challenges of AR SmartGlasses
Imagine a future where Augmented Reality Smart Glasses seamlessly integrate into our daily lives, unlocking a world of possibilities right before our eyes. These fashionable AR glasses have the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with the environment. However, there are still significant challenges that prevent these AR glasses from being available at the mass market. It is imperative to understand and overcome these technical hurdles to make AR glasses a reality for consumer. Among the various display technologies, Laser Beam Scanning (LBS) based light engines emerges as a key solution to meet the extreme requirements for stylish AR glasses with respect to compactness, low power consumption, high brightness, high contrast, large field of view and low-cost mass manufacturing capability. The key component to enable this is OQmented 2D MEMS mirror chip that is hermetically vacuum packaged already on wafer level. The operation in vacuum effectively minimizes power consumption and amplifies the oscillation amplitudes of the biaxial resonant mirror axes leading to a high resolution display module of very compact size.
